SEMI FINAL BETWEEN INDIA AND PAKISTAN

30th March was the day when the roads were full of green shirts, big
smiles on painted faces singing the enthusiastic songs and waving their flags as high possible rushing to different venues offering big screens. The sports stores were out of stock for regular national kit and kids were so excited for the reason. The whole scene was changed, in a city full of tensions people were in no mood to think of anything else for the day at least.

The preparations finally came to an end and everything was settled before the first bowl of the match. Indian batman started as usual with a good run rate and Pakistani fans were praying for a magical bowl that could bring the spark back in. The match kept going and there were moments of happiness in it for both sides. Indian batting failed to give an impossible target and hence green supporters were sure enough to hold the glory.

The match entered in its last phase. Pakistani openers gave a hope, they played very carefully and were able to give Pakistan a good start. But with time the match seemed to slip away from green side, blunders from batsman were unacceptable to the fans and with the span of time green supporters were somehow mentally prepared to accept the fact that celebrations will be for blue supporters. The match ended with hundreds of sad faces most of the people did not bother to see the ceremony, the land of Pakistan was disappointed to silence.

Disappointed comments and complaints were on every face, but there were a few satisfied faces among the crowd. When asked the reason of satisfaction, answer was “Our team was not able to gift a victory its nation apparently but our PM was able to discuss issues that were far more fruitful for Pakistan”

In fact, The most worrying thing in Dr Singh’s so-called diplomatic initiative in Mohali is that there really would have been no such meeting had the Indian and Pakistani cricketers not made it to the semifinals of the World Cup. So if we see the equation from other side our team played their part very well and were able to bring the leaders of two mutually hostile nuclear weapons states, who spend an untenable fortune on their military budgets to be hair-trigger ready to inflict Armageddon at a moment’s notice. It will take sometime when the people will come out of the emotional wounds of loosing the match but when they will recognize success they will feel proud of Pakistan team.
