NEWS IN OUR VIEWS

By: Hira Afzal,  Ayesha khan , Summaiya Mazhar and Quratulain Tahir.
After taking Miss Sabeen’s two hour class in which she gave us the shock of
assignment we all were very frustrated and not in the mood to make another assignment but at the same time we got to know that another shock is waiting for us in the form of Miss Tooba’s assignment for which we were not mentally prepared at all :-(

While searching for news we decided first to visit canteen.

  • On the way to canteen we saw a girl who was smoking at the front of chemistry department. That was unexpected and shocking for us as we had never thought about such kind of shameful act so boldly in university premises.
  • Then we entered in canteen and saw the new food item introduced “Drum Stick” in canteen, after spending three years in university it was the first to saw anything new in the canteen so it was news in our views:-)
  • Moving towards the water cooler we noticed some change in the walls and main gate of the university, the walls were much clean than before and that was all because of the preparation for convocation.
In the seminar library we got to know that the students of Second year Mass Communication have complained of Miss Um e Habiba to the HOD of Mass Communication for not giving them news paper

SEMI FINAL BETWEEN INDIA AND PAKISTAN

30th March was the day when the roads were full of green shirts, big
smiles on painted faces singing the enthusiastic songs and waving their flags as high possible rushing to different venues offering big screens. The sports stores were out of stock for regular national kit and kids were so excited for the reason. The whole scene was changed, in a city full of tensions people were in no mood to think of anything else for the day at least.

The preparations finally came to an end and everything was settled before the first bowl of the match. Indian batman started as usual with a good run rate and Pakistani fans were praying for a magical bowl that could bring the spark back in. The match kept going and there were moments of happiness in it for both sides. Indian batting failed to give an impossible target and hence green supporters were sure enough to hold the glory.

The match entered in its last phase. Pakistani openers gave a hope, they played very carefully and were able to give Pakistan a good start. But with time the match seemed to slip away from green side, blunders from batsman were unacceptable to the fans and with the span of time green supporters were somehow mentally prepared to accept the fact that celebrations will be for blue supporters. The match ended with hundreds of sad faces most of the people did not bother to see the ceremony, the land of Pakistan was disappointed to silence.

Disappointed comments and complaints were on every face, but there were a few satisfied faces among the crowd. When asked the reason of satisfaction, answer was “Our team was not able to gift a victory its nation apparently but our PM was able to discuss issues that were far more fruitful for Pakistan”

In fact, The most worrying thing in Dr Singh’s so-called diplomatic initiative in Mohali is that there really would have been no such meeting had the Indian and Pakistani cricketers not made it to the semifinals of the World Cup. So if we see the equation from other side our team played their part very well and were able to bring the leaders of two mutually hostile nuclear weapons states, who spend an untenable fortune on their military budgets to be hair-trigger ready to inflict Armageddon at a moment’s notice. It will take sometime when the people will come out of the emotional wounds of loosing the match but when they will recognize success they will feel proud of Pakistan team.

Mela 2011

                                “ MELA 2011”

After the stressful period of exams we got to know the news that our university is going to organize the mela on 26th march 2011.The chief guest of the mela was “RAZA HAROON” (MPA). He visited the university and inaugurated the mela.

The news of mela seems to be relaxing for us as it was the only means of entertainment in our busy routine. Mela is the annual event organized by our university in which all the departments of university participated and arranged stalls of variety of things.” MISS TOOBA and MISS HUMERA” were the organizers from the department of mass communication.
Finally the day came, the weather was sunny hot, I went to university and when I entered it seems like I have entered in a market place where everyone was busy in buying and visited different stalls. No doubt the environment was quite pleasant and it seems so colorful to me. My friends were waiting for me because I was quite late. I start visiting stalls with my friends. There were no of stalls which were very attracting, especially handicraft, mehndi , face painting, books etc,  but what I noticed that most of the crowd were interested in the food stalls and other stalls remains waitinng for the crowd:)

There was no proper arrangement s of dustbin in the mela........ lots of garbage was on the floor and was potraying the bad picture of the scenario:(

There was also the entertaining factor of ‘MUSIC’. The two shocking elements in the mela were the dance of the girls and second was the prices of the dresses, seriously they were out of range it feels like they were more than the designer wear:(

Mr.faisal subzwari (youth minister)   was also came and visited the stalls.

The whole event was covered by the Sama t.v and Duniy television.I personally feel that these types of entertaining events should be arranged as it provides a platform for extracurricular activities.

Mid Term News..

"A library implies an act of Wisdom and
                                    knowledge".

Library is the place that is the centre of student's attention in the period of exams. Books are the main assets of library and if the library is not fulfilling the requirement of the students so it is useless to call it a library.
“SEMINAR LIBRARY"is the main library of mass communication department where students gathered to study.”MASS COMMUNICATION THEORY"  is the main subject and we  need proper book to study related to that subject but unfortunately in seminar library we have only "TWO BOOKS" and it is impossible to fulfill requirement of "HUNDRED STUDENTS" specially in the period of exams.

The two books named: MASS COMMNICATION THEORY by mcquail and the other book is by the author named baran remained the highlighted issue during the midterm exams because many students were unable to avail these books. I think the HOD of MASS COMMNICATION should take some serious action to solve this issue.

"The only true equalizer in the world is books,
the only Treasure House to open
                        all comers is a library".
